Attorney General Patrick Morrisey Issues Statement Regarding Letters From Abortion Clinics in W.Va.
CHARLESTON — Attorney General Patrick Morrisey issued the following statement today regarding letters the Office of the Attorney General sent to abortion providers in June:
“On June 17, the Office of the Attorney General sent a letter to two abortion clinics in West Virginia as part of an effort to gather information to assess the adequacy of oversight of abortion clinics. We received comments from both of the clinics — Women’s Health Center of West Virginia and Kanawha Surgicenter — on July 2.
“The one-page letter from Women's Health Center of West Virginia declined to answer a number of questions citing pending litigation, but the author did say the clinic follows all laws and regulations currently on the books.
“We will continue our efforts to review the state of abortion regulation in West Virginia and seek to ensure that women’s health is protected.”
