AG Patrick Morrisey Announces Kickoff of Planned Jobs Summit

CHARLESTON – Attorney General Patrick Morrisey today announced that his Office will kick off its planned “Jobs Summit & Listening Tour” at 1:30 p.m. on April 17th in the Lower Rotunda of the West Virginia State Capitol. The overarching goal of the Jobs Summit -- which is part of the Attorney General’s 17-point plan for the first 100 days in office -- is to meet with interested parties throughout the state to identify the top areas in which the Office of the Attorney General can work to improve West Virginia’s economy.

“I am looking forward to hearing from all West Virginians on how the Attorney General’s office can help attract jobs back to our state,” Attorney General Morrisey said. “Action is urgently needed to improve West Virginia’s business climate, and the Office of the Attorney General can and should play an important role in this process.”

The Attorney General’s Jobs Summit kickoff event will be followed by a series of listening tour stops across the state, allowing West Virginians to provide the Office with input and opinions. After identifying major areas of economic concern for citizens and employers alike, the Office of the Attorney General will begin the process of reviewing state and federal regulations to determine any improvements that can be made.

“I will take any necessary action to help move our economy forward, as West Virginians cannot afford for our state to fall further behind” Morrisey explained. “The Attorney General possesses the legal power -- through both legal opinions and legal actions -- to significantly improve West Virginia’s business and regulatory climate, and my ultimate goal is to help West Virginia reach its economic potential.”
