Attorney General McGraw Names Huntington’s Eastham To Citizen’s Advisory CommitteeCHARLESTON – Citing devotion to public safety and experience within the community, West Virginia Attorney General Darrell McGraw has selected Huntington firefighter Carl Eastham for his Citizens Advisory Committee. “It is a real honor to be asked to join the Citizens Advisory Committee,” Eastham said. “I look forward to working with the Attorney General’s Office in that capacity.” Created by McGraw in March 2007, the Citizens Advisory Committee reaches out to communities throughout the state as part of the Attorney General’s effort to provide personalized access to consumer protection resources and education for all West Virginians. It offers consumers with questions and complaints the opportunity for direct contact with a representative of the Attorney General’s Office. Eastham is the newest of the committee’s 32 Citizen Advisors. “Opening these channels of communication is one of the most effective tools that my office can use in educating consumers,” Attorney General McGraw said. “It enables them to make smarter choices and reduces unnecessary litigation.” A charter member of the West Virginia Regional Response Team, Eastham is presently Secretary-Treasurer of the Professional Fire Fighters of West Virginia. He is currently assigned to Engine Company 5 in the Guyandotte District and has been a firefighter in Huntington for over 24 years. As he progressed through the ranks to the position of captain, he was awarded the Fire Department Medal of Valor with several citations for meritorious conduct and held the office of President of the Huntington Professional Fire Fighters Association for 16 years. Eastham has long been a strong advocate for fire safety. He attended Huntington High School and went on to study at Marshall University and New Mexico Tech, where he learned about recognizing and responding to terrorist attacks and weapons of mass destruction. Certified by the U.S. Department of Labor as a Journeyman Firefighter, Eastham also serves as a specialized EMT and fire service instructor in hazardous materials operations. He and Linda “Tinker” Eastham, his wife of 29 years, have two adult sons and one grandson.
